He only talks about us after he's drank

I've noticed my boyfriend only really ever starts talking about us or his feelings when he's had a few drinks. I can understand feeling nervous about those conversations or wanting something to loosen him up first, but is there anything I can do or say to help him get talking without the alcohol? He's an open kind of guy with everything else.
