i have just begun talking to this girl who i think is amazing and beautiful, and she has a identical twin.

Has anyone dated a twin and is that difficult? i would think there are things that are hard to say, like if you tell her shes beautiful then she might think you are attracted to her sister as well cuz they look alike, it seems like there is alot of things that could get me in trouble like that, lol.

Honest Answer agony auntI never dated a twin, but I knew a few. The girls I knew (though identical to me) viewed themselves as completly different. By saying she is pretty, I don't think she will take it the wrong way.

Good Luck!

A reader, anonymous, writes (12 January 2010):

Identical twins are used to having a look alike and she isn't going to mistake you telling her she is pretty with you liking her twin, that's just silly.

They do have different personalities but it is quite common for them to have very similar likes and dislikes and interests even.

The most difficult thing about dating a twin is getting them to separate from their twin.

My sister is married to an identical twin and I have known both of them since she started dating him. They have exactly the same career, are almost impossible to distinguish from each other unless they have different facial hair or are standing next to one another. My sister's husband is slightly taller then his twin.

They now have twins of their own, not identical, a boy and a girl...and twins are a handful, but they are also a lot of fun.

And you will need to get to know her twin and be a friend to her.

They might look the same, but their personalties are different, and that is what you have to compliment (along with her looks). She'll appreciate that.
