Gone for 5 weeks and no contact why

i met my arab boyfriend 5 years ago he was in uk on training with air force he has to go home at certain times like rammadan , he is from saudi arabia and treats me like gold dust. 1st time he went he contacted me all the time 2nd time maybe three or four he goes for 5 weeks at a time , he was meant to be here this christmas but on the 23 nov he had a call from home saying his father had died but he never told me for 2 days and left me wondering why there was no contact , now hes been gone almost 5 weeks , he said he will be back in 5 weeks i think i culd not understand him for his crying on the phone which i understand , i have texed his brothers phone but had no reply when i call no one answers , , i know their culture is different and the house hold king has gone but what is this telling me ? can any one expain their culture when death occcours , will i wait for ever he has to start his course again in jan , and we are starting a buisness together as he does not want to have to leave me . but why no contact any thoughts appreciated please
