A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I am currently 36 1/2 weeks pregnant with visiable warts present.I was reading someone else's questions about the same topic and agree that I am always getting a different answer from various people, including mid wives and doctors. I am worried about passing the virus onto my newborn. I have brought this issue up to my doctor a few times who reassures me I have nothing to worry about, but I am still freaked out from what I have been reading on the internet and in books. I would not want my innocent baby to be affected with this virus. If anyone has been through this same senerio please feel free to respond. Any doctors or nurses are welcome to elaborate on the subject.

MommyOfOne agony auntNever been through this, as I don't have this virus. But, I believe you have to have a c-section. A vaginal birth would pass the virus to the baby. I have read that the baby's immune system isn't strong enough to handle it and may end up in nicu, or possible die. That's what I have read. Im not a doctor, so I don't know.

I would talk it over with your dr. I would go for a c-section just for safe measure.

i actually went through this with my first baby. i too was diagnosed with genital warts. i was concerned about passing it on to my baby too. my doctor put me on some medication to supress the out break and told me it was possible to have normal delivery.i know all doctors are different, but he also did give me the option to have a cesarean section if i wanted because of the warts. talk to ur doctor more. put ur mind at ease. if he says everything is ok, than trust him. its too late to get a second opinion. just follow his orders, u should be fine. good luck to u and ur baby.
