writes: one of my colleagues at work is sending out very mixed signals, well a lot of people say hes a big head with a huge ego and lets face it he is a real A-hole to most of the people he works with. Well a few days ago he had real go at someone and i was stood with one of my work pals and he said to me 'i'm nice really, i know you like me because i'm nice with you'which leaves the question he obviously wants me to like him. he also looks at me different to everyone else (not in pervy looking up and down way) but in a looking deep into my eyes way, also sometimes when we talk he'll give me a little wink. My question is does he really like me or am i reading to much into friendliness?

reader, anonymous, writes (5 August 2006): yeah, i'd definitely say this guy sounds like a cocky A-hole. the wink along with the fact that he told you that you liked him. sounds to me like this guy thinks way too much of himself, and even if he did want some sort of relationship with you, eventually, his true colors will show through. i'm a firm believer that how you treat other people will inevitably be how you treat the person that you are with. because when the honeymoon phase, and the lust wears off, you'll be stuck with the real him. and the real him sounds like a jackass.

 The wink says he is a manipulator to me, and I am not trusting of the he'll scatch your back if you scatch his. Does not like a good basis for a relationship whether he likes you or not. You may find he will 'like you' if you comply with his plans.
