It depends,I guess it varies from guy to guy but you could tell by the way he picks on you. If he's just plain mean and there's no humour at all then he's probably just a jerk but if u could sense some humour in the way he picks on you, he probably has a thing for u. You could find out for sure by jokingly suggesting to him that he picks on u cos he likes u and by watching his reaction. You'd probably find him opening up to you more and admitting the feelings for u that he's been carefully trying to hide

 as children yes because they don't really know what there feeling or even how to say it but as adults they might just have low self-esteam and wants someone to feel as low as they do.

 Its hard to say, it depends on what he picks on you for. It could well be that he likes you, as at this age he can't express his feelings for you, so all he can do is be horrible.
Try being nice to him and see what sort of reaction you get.

reader, anonymous, writes (17 May 2007): it depends on what you mean by picks on you if he teases you about hte way you look then that could be a negative sign but sometimes when a guy picks on you it could mean he likes you but is afraid to show it therefore they find better to tease you instead to get a reaction. like a love and hate situation!
