Does he still want to be friends or what?

I got a question. My guy friends been ignoring me. But every once in a while I'd catch him staring at me. Today was weird i was talking to my girlfriend and he sat behind her and I was talking about the answer I put on a test that was wrong and he smiled because he was listening in and he thought it was funny. he ignores me but yet he gets into our conversations on the bus and acts all nice. Why? He talks to me on the bus and he trys so hard to correct me if I say something wrong. Is this maybe a sign that he wants to still be friends with me?
