I've heard of this drug being used for manic depression as well and I had a friend who was on it and it made her very sluggish. When you picked up the medication at the pharmacy, they should have given you information on the side effects, dosage, and how long it takes to take effect. There are also forums online if you google what your child's diagnosis is and you should find many people in your situation that you can get info from. I hope this helps.

The dosage does appear to be quite low, but because she is only 4 this is understandable. Results of the drug are dependant on the person. But usually within 3 weeks, the optimum dose is reached and the drug should start to take effect. I think after this time you should have another meeting with your doctor to check the medication has had the proper effect.
