so heres the thing - you may end up alone

you may not.

do you love yourself enough to be happy either way?

O Connor agony auntyes this is normal i think everyone goes throught these worries. i would enjoy being single and relish in the fact that you havent dived into anything too serious so early!! alot of ppl i know havent met anyone and gotten into their relationships til their early 20's! dont worry about it, you are still so young and there is so much more time to enjoy yourself!

I think everyone thinks that at some stage in their life. All I can say is get out there and have fun and if you meet someone (which you will eventually!) its a bonus! Believe me hun you wont end up alone!

A female reader, baby duck United States + , writes (19 January 2008):

baby duck agony auntThere was a similar post by a young man just the other day; I don't think it's a *woman* thing. I remember having similar feelings and I had an active social life. I think it's just primal stuff ... pushing you to find a mate and procreate.

Even though we all have instinctual urges, we live in the 21st century. We understand more about why we do what we do, and when we don't, we just put it in our browser and find the answers.

It's perfectly normal to have those feelings. Don't tell yourself that they're not important or that they're top priority. Just acknowledge that the feelings are there and go on about your business. Make sure you continue your education, earn your keep, volunteer time and/or money to those less fortunate, enjoy loved ones and hobbies ... and trust that you will not end up alone. You've only been an adult for a couple of years ... it would be a waste to commit yourself to someone now. You have so many experiences to learn from, by yourself, without having to consider someone else ... go do it! Live! Enjoy!
