A female Netherlands age 51-59, anonymous writes:

Hello! I have a question, I hope someone here has experience with disabilities (direct or through a partner) and can help me with this.

Since almost 10 years I have a condition, not contagious, invisible (so I look like everybody else), that is slowly getting better, I was hoping to be completely healed last year but I had a relapse so it is not over at all and I have to consider myself disabled.

This condition leaves me with very little energy to do things and to keep it under control I must keep a very strict diet, stress free lifestyle and basically I am there only for half of my waking hours, the other half I have to spend lying down and can only do boring activities such as watching a movie or non-interesting conversation. It was improving, and probably it will keep improving again, but I don't know how much is a healthy person ready to take. I don't need anything in particular, except for understanding and lack of scenes. If I do too much one day I have to spend the following day in bed (alone) and can't really talk or anything, but that's about it when the condition is managed.

When I was even more sick I had a boyfriend who was a programmer, so he was sitting down all day, didn't mind me being a bit absent, never thought about exercising (which now I actually must do, so to be close to a sportive person would be better for me) and watching a movie was his highest idea of entertainment, so we would get along fine, but now I'd probably get bored with someone like that (I have many interests, and love to try new things, in spite of my limitations).

Today I went to check this dating site with people with disabilities, and it made me really sad, so much suffering, and I was not sure if I belonged there, as it seems that my condition is improving. Also, most of the guys there were really badly off, barely independent, and I am already struggling so much to get healthy that i don't know if I can take on someone else's suffering. On the other hand, I don't know if what I have to offer is too little for any healthy person, and if I should stay away from normal dating sites.

Any suggestions?

yes, I can happily have sex, but half of the time I cannot walk three blocks and have a disability scooter, that is also a turnoff for some people even if it is pink.

I don't think you need disability site. You are not even disabled. Many people without disability spend their night at home watching TV and relaxing

On my days off I like to take a nap, read a book, or watch couple of movies.

Or I go to the beach or pool, and again, read a book, or just people watch.

You are getting better. Are you Able to have sex?
