He has recently split up with his other half and has been very down about it, and I have just been a person thats there for him to chat to. He can be quite flirty but he says that he is like that with lots of girls. He has told me that he likes a girl at the minute, but she is a really good friend and doesn't know if he should tell her or not, because he doesn't want to scare her off. And was asking me what I thought of that. I'm a bit confused, could I be the girl that he is talking about?

The simple way would be to inquire about it more. Say "That depends; what is she like and how long have you known her?"
