 Yes, I have read in a few different places now that this is possible, and using a condom doesn't help the spread if you come into contact with an open sore. I'm hoping that your interest in this question is theoretical and that you are planning on waiting a bit longer before you decide to have sex with a partner that you love and are in a committed relationship with, Right? Can't help it, I'm a Mom! Please practice safe sex when you do decide that the time is right for you, and encourage this practice among your friends.
