well, i just lost my virginity on about 2 days ago..

i didnt bleed, and i had been fingered before...

my friends of course say he didnt go in all the way,

but i too believe it depends on the girl...

im glad i read, i feel better. lol

but upon penetration, you are no longer a virgin..

thats as true as anything,

it doesnt matter if you didnt bleed...

it counts

A female reader, anonymous, writes (28 February 2008):

it is possible.

You may have penetrated her, which is technically loosing your virginity. You may have not gone far enough to make her bleed. It's as simple as that.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (9 February 2008):

its not necessary for every girl to bleed on the very first night coz hymen is a very thin membrane tissue which can be torn with other activities like accidents, playing sports, horse riding, gym like exercising ....1st & foremost thing is we 've to see the background & we should trust a girl coz only innocent girl's only tells the truth & loosing virginity is not a big deal it can also happen through lifting heavy weights ...'Allahuakber' plz trust a girl.....

A female reader, anonymous, writes (3 February 2008):

The gentleman who left the previous answer is absolutely correct. I am a doctor and came across this sight purely be accident. Just to allay a few fears.

1. Most virgins do not bleed on first intercourse. Usually this because they have used tampons, played certain sports, rode horses, or through previous foreplay with partners or masturbation.

2. Some hymens do cover up to 80% of the vaginal opening but it is very rare. Most only cover the bottom third and so can easily be stretched to accommodate her partner's penis.

3. If you do bleed then don't worry! It is a short time to it healing and a little burning afterwards is quite normal.

4. Women are different sized internally just as they are externally. Not all men have the same size penis, right? Well, some girls are a little bigger and looser inside even though they haven't had intercourse before.

The most important thing is to relax, enjoy and hopefully be in a secure and loving relationship before you take this step. It will make it a much happer time all around. Good luck!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (16 January 2008):

It is pretty common for a girl to not bleed her first time. It all depends on if the hymen was broken before. A girl can break her hymen playing sports, riding a horse, or being fingered. All the hymen is is a thin layer of skin that is attached to the vaginal wall. Some girls have thicker ones and some thinner, which could relate to how much it hurts your first time. So all in all it is very plausible that your gf had her hymen broken when she was fingered.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (29 December 2007):

hello, i don't know if that is normal, but i too just lost my virginity like 2 weeks ago, and i did not bleed, we did it again a week later and nothing...i guess it just depends on the gurl, who knows, but i mean, it don't mean that your girlfriend had sex with a guy before you, maybe she is just like me...who knows, maybe she will bleed later on when you all have sex again.

I'm just curious. My girlfriend is not a virgin. I'm her second partner. When she lost her virginity she didn't bleed. Up now she hasn't bled but on each ocassion she experiences severe pain upon penetration. Furthermore she said that her sexual encounters with her first partner were few and far in between. Yet still her vagina isn't that tight. I'm really confused. We are to be married soon and I don't want this to enter our marraige. Could someone please help??

A reader, anonymous, writes (14 July 2007):

Hello all, I got an issue.

I am getting married in 1 month and my fiancee is a virgin. She definately has a hymen and to be honest I don't care if she is a virgin or not, I just want to have sex with her a lot :-).

My question is, can any woman here give me advice about breaking the hymen and how to lessen the pain for her? We will be having normal current sex after marriage so, fingering, oral, vaginal, and of course toys but nothing before.

Our main goal, she is very much involved in this, is that if she does bleed and I am sure she will eventualy, that she get healed up so that the real party can begin.

Thanks!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (17 April 2007):

It is a myth that one 'should' bleed during the first intercourse. Hymen is a thin membrane that covers the vagina. It may or may not be present at birth. In some women, the hymen only has some tiny openings through which menstrual blood can escape, but in others, the hymen is just a rim of tissue. Sometimes it just folds naturally along the walls of the vagina. Not every virgin has a kind of hymen that could appear to "pop" with her first act of intercourse. It may get broken without one's knowledge while doing certain activities such as some sports or athletics. It may also get broken if one masturbates or uses tampons. If it is unbroken, a little bleeding may take place at the first intercourse, however it cannot be regarded as a test of one's virginity. Bleeding may not happen in a virgin girl if the hymen is absent since birth or it is ruptured without her knowledge during sports etc.

Some girls do and dont bleed during their first experience of sex. You should trust your girlfriend in that she was a virgin when she was with you. I didnt bleed my first time but did bleed when my partner masturbated me, so not evreyone has the same experiences first time round.

bleeding after sex doesnt always mean that the girl was a virgin. i didnt bleed when i first had sex. so you cant always think that bleeding means she was a virgin.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (12 April 2006):

The hymen is a thin lining and is therefore easy to break. It is possible to break this through oral sex; thus the female bleeding if it does break. When you do lose your virginity or through oral sex, bleeding may occur, but sometimes it doesnt; every female is different.

Racky agony aunthi

every girl is different, some bleed and some don't. What matters is that you both care about each other. In todays soceity how virginity is lost is not as important. All i advise you to do is think about what you both have and why you are both comfortable sharing intimate experiences together. think of your girlfriend as unique and as an individual not as how society says the right way to lose virginity is. hope you are both happy together, all the best

It was the same for me. When I first had sex I didnt bleed but when my boyfriend did it with his fingers before we had sex it did. I think that it can be easy for the hyman to break and it is quite common for fingers to do this.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (12 December 2005):

What do you "do"? You decide whether or not you trust her. Period.

If it helps, what she says is entirely possibly, depending on what her boyfriend did while masturbating her. Besides, lots of girls/women don't bleed when they lose their virginity because they broke their hymens some other way, like pole vaulting.

A female reader, beenthere +, writes (12 December 2005):

some girls bleed the first time. others don't. it is perfectly normal that she bled if she was touched there for the first time. this may have 'popped' her, which is usually when a girl bleeds if she's going to.
