Can you call this a relationship?

Umm Im not really seeking advice here...Im just asking for opinions and I would really like to hear Your opinions...There's this Guy I know{He's 18}...he Lives about 6 hrs away from this girl he has fallen in love with. They met Through a friend of his[His friend lives in the same town as the girl] and Now they are "going out".They been "going out" for about 2months...But My question is Can U really Call a thing like this...a relationship..??Because they've never seen each other in person But they do send each other pics all the time and they see each other on Myspace. No physical Contact at all Just Communication Cause They do Talk for hours and Hours in The phone. so Is this a Relationship or not???
