Can her loss of love be cured by staying away?

Question - (22 March 2011) 2 Answers - (Newest, 22 March 2011)
A male United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I was in a 4 year relationship with my ex-gf and she called it quits because of a loss of love interest. I'm trying to move on, but I would LOVE to get back with her. Friends recommend giving her space because she might be confused and not sure if she made the right decision. However, I feel she may slip further and further away. Can her so called loss of love be cured by counter-intuitively staying away? And have any females out there ever completely (or mostly) lost their love interest, but given enough space, realized they still love their ex and wanted to try again?
