I was wondering, can you straighten your hair AFTER getting a perm at any time?

Because my hair is boring straight and I'm getting tired of it. Like I want a perm but thing is I'm not going to want it curly EVERY DAY, somedays I just might want it straight, is that possible and if not, can you blow dry your hair?

Help :)

first off all I work in a hairdressers

A perm is very damamging to the hair and takes years to grow out depending on your hair length..

If you want a change of hair style I would suggust a not soo damaging style like tonging, it gives lush angle curls a little hairspray to hold or maybe moose in it, add it and crumple your hair into balls in your hands, gives a wavy style or what about even crimping it?

There are loads of options, just decide on what look you like, have a girls night in and test on your mates, even make your own style up.

Firstlt I would suggest talking to your hairdresser about whether a perm would suit your hair and what type. Perms have come a long way in recent years and don't do as much damage as they used to, I had a perm about 6 months ago and my hair never seemed damaged. To stop frizz there are plenty of mousses to use, shockwaves is especially good.

Most perms drop a little after a couple of weeks sp the curl is not so tight, I left mine in the perm for a few moths and then began to straighten it sometimes, after combing it straight and it still has the curl in it when I wet it.

Basically you can straighten a perm but it will make the perm fall out faster and not be so defined. Mine is just becoming quite loose after 6 months which is a reasonable time i think.

Midge agony auntI have dead straight hair. I have had my hair permed on two occasions and it did a lot of damage to my hair. I cut it several times to get the perm out and eventually after a number of years the damage was minimal and I eventually got my hair repaired by cutting out all of the damage.

From personal experience even going to a fancy hair salon and paying an arm and a leg doesnt give you the guarantee that the perm is going to go well. I have very thick hair and because of that, my hair doesnt take well to perms. I find that within a day of having my hair permed my hair just frizzes! And trust me that isnt a good look. I looked like the shaggy dog on crack!

If hair is permed, your hair will have some damage to it, no matter who does it and what products they use to minimise the damage. If you go and try straighten it afterwards, you land up doing more damage to your hair. So again straightening your hair will damage it more after your perm.

Having had dead straight hair all my life and life you, decided to experiment for "a change", I actually bought myself a really good set of hair rollers. I am not talking about the cheap ones that you get from the shops but a really good make and ones that are easy to apply. It takes about 40 minutes to do my hair but the good thing is that if my hair is partially wet and I put the rollers in, it tends to make my hair even more curly but does take a bit longer to dry it. Also, you can get some really good products that you can spray on your hair before you start putting the rollers in and stops the rollers or the drying process from damaging your hair.

That way if you want straight hair one day and curly the next, you can do that, it just takes a little longer to do and no damage to you hair.
