Dazzerg agony auntI think heartsick is pretty much right, what they are doing is projecting their emotions about aspects of their own character onto other people, hence the fact that you occasionally find raving homophobes who are in actual fact gay. Forming a prejeudice is a way of dealing with some deep seated self-loathing towards aspects of their own personality.

Where that particular loathing comes from is hard to tell with so little info where this will have come from; it maybe their upbringing or a bad experience of some kind in earlier life. They will almost certainly need help to deal with this aspect of their personality and you might have to dismiss their prejeudice or at least try and bite your tounge though dont encourage it if you want to help them. Good luck :)

The word that comes to mind is.... confused! Maybe they would rather not have these feelings, rather not have to face prejudice, and despise themself for feelings they can't control.

Maybe they come from a background where this is thought to be wrong, so they are fighting the conflict inside.

I would guess they are not content, and needing time to adjust and accept themself.
