Best friendship at an end?

Question - (27 October 2010) 3 Answers - (Newest, 27 October 2010)
A female New Zealand age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I just got engaged to my boyfriend and thought that my best friend would phone or visit to congratulate me after I messaged her to let her know but I haven't heard from her. She had a minor operation two weeks ago but she has been out doing errands so this wouldn't prevent her making contact. We have been friends for 15 years but over the past two years our friendship has involved me being there for her in a crisis, listening to her problems and babysitting for her children but not really receiving much in return. We have not been invited over unless she needs help with something although we live 5 minutes away. Her fiance would not help my boyfriend in return when he needed help building his garage although he is a qualified builder and we offered to pay him. She has been engaged for three years so I wondered whether she is jealous. Should I confront her or just let the friendship go?

Have you tried calling her? Maybe she is going through a tough time right now? The world doesn;'t revolve around you you know? Its so funny you automatically assume she's jealous. But in the same token maybe she is. You didn't call her so you would never know.
