Aroused by thoughts of my girlfriend with her ex, what's wrong with me?

Question - (9 February 2009) 6 Answers - (Newest, 22 February 2009)
A male United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

My girlfriend and I have lived together for the past 8 months. We've dated on and off for years, but have been together since 2008. We've both dated other people during our numerous breakups. She dated one guy in particular who she was crazy in love with. For some reason, I am absolutely turned on by the thought of the two of them having sex. When we're having sex, I sometimes ask her to tell me all about her sleeping with her ex. It totally turns me on. I don't know why I'm so completely obsessed with the thoughts and visuals of these two sleeping together.

On the other hand, she has a similar fascination with tales of my sleeping with one of my ex's. She gets off on my telling her these stories. So, we're both somewhat obsessed with hearing stories of one another's ex's. What is wrong with us?

I suppose asking "what's wrong with me" isn't the right choice of words...more like "why do I feel this way."

We do have an awesome relationship and it's not like we want to see one another with random strangers...just people from our past who we once dated and slept with.

I don't believe that blaming porn is the issue here.

nothings wrong, my wife tells me all about her ex boyfriends when we are having sex. She tells me what they did, how big their cocks were, etc... We both love it

Lol, I'd be freaked out too but as it's quite common, I'd quit worrying about it. Just enjoy it, it's not like it's hurting your relationship. Everyone has their quirks. Just accept it.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (9 February 2009):

nothing is wrong with you! Google "cuckold" fantasies and you'll see that loads of other men are having just the darndest time with this very thing. It's not an uncommon fantasy, and, if you see yourself being that into it, there are some who go the whole way and enact various scenarios. Sounds like you have a good relationship with your girlfriend, so why not just have fun with it? So long as you both communicate with each other and respect any boundaries you both set, it could be just another fun element of your sex life, with this relationship or others.
