Ok so me and my boyfriend have been going out since october 2012, were pretty much best friends and we always joke around with each other.

For Valentines, I thought I should spice it up a bit. Buying him some sexy knickers, just for a joke.

But I have been serious at the same time, i've bought him a card and a fragrance I really liked for him, I don't know if he would like it but its a little something I hope he would.

Confidence is something major. So spice up a bit :)

I guess I am not buying my bf anything. He thinks that if I get him something that I'm taking the fun out of it. So I thought about cooking his favorite meal for him which is fried duck with some sides(yes I know how to cook he thinks I am the best cook ever). If you have any more good ideas please let me know thanks.

If you want to get him a good gift, get him something he enjoys - something that he likes to do, like a contribution to one of his hobbies. Guys don't like all the fluffy rubbish that they make out to love - they just like YOU.

1) To the person who said "sexy lingerie and a blow job" dude, c'mon. That's just uncalled for.

2) Some boys DO like sweet, mushy stuff. Others don't. It really depends on your guy! If you KNOW that he likes mushy kinda stuff, flowers, pillows, stuffed animals are perfect. However, if you either know he DOESN'T like mushy stuff or have no idea, the best bet is to either: think of an inside joke and figure out a way to make a present out of it; bake him cookies/bring him a little bag of candy; make/buy a card that's sweet, and wish him "Happy Valentine's Day!" With a big hug/kiss depending on your age.

FOR GUYS! Again, this depends on your girlfriend. Some girls love mushy and sweet, others don't. Some like expensive presents, others like handmade gifts.

OVERALL if you don't know which kind of present your bf/gf would like, you probably don't know them well enough to get anything over the top. A card, maybe some candy/cookies is all you need. Just make sure you hug/kiss them more often, after all, it's still a romantic, special day for both of you to spend together, it shouldn't matter the gift! :)

me and my boyfriend have been together for just over 4 months, he's caught all of the major spending days so far and i feel kinda bad because i know he always wants so make sure that he does well without seeming show-y.

he's gotten me these james avery rose bud earrings for my birthday and a swirl heart necklace for christmas. i got him the jake cologne from hollister for christmas and an x-box gift card for his birthday (a great idea if you ask me, he was soo excited 3)

for valentines day though i got him this cute heart pillow things with arms from ikea months ago and ive gotten it to the point to where it smells just like me :) (i stole his letterman months ago and personaly i love being envoloped in his scent all the time, i find it sexy)

i made all of my other friends like little treat bags like i do for any random holiday just cause their all single and i wanted to make their day special

i'm putting one of those bags in his gift bag also, filled with handmade sugar cookies, various candies and an ipod shuffle.

i have a feeling that i'm going wayy over the top with all of this but im not too sure :/

happy valentines day though, all of you, single or not are beautiful and deserve better 3

So I've been with my boyfriend two months officially, but we have known each other for years. I told him I love him last night for the very first time, which screwed up my Valentine's Day plans because I wanted to tell him tomorrow. Now I don't know what to do. I'm thinking I'll bake him cookies even though I'm not much of a cook. And I might stop at Victoria's Secret and get some lingerie. The only thing is I probably won't get the opportunity to model it for him tomorrow. I also had the idea of a beach picnic with LOTS of blankets because its freezing outside. That's all I got, feedback would be great :)

My boyfriend and I have been dating since the third of december. We've liked, if not loved, each other since we met four years ago, but nothing ever came of it and we didn't keep too much in contact for all that time until I moved back to the area.

Now, tomorrow, he feels really bad because he can't get me anything or take me anywhere for Valentine's Day. I'm his second girlfriend, so I don't expect him to think of something unbelieveably romantic that doesn't cost money.

Anyways, I'd really like to get him something. If not, make him something but I don't know what. I don't want him to feel worse than he already does for not getting me anything. He's an artist and is in graphic design in college, he's also a writer and interested in making videos and film. I don't have many pictures of the two of us or videos.

I'm really kind of lost... :/

last year i bought him some red boxers which said 'me 4 u' and i made him a book full of our memories, he LOVED it and still reads it now!

And this year i'm attempting to cook dinner (because me and him both know i suck at it), then im buying him a new dvd which he likes for us both to snuggle up and watch! and i'm filling a jar full of love heart sweets and little notes.

there's a couple ideas if anybody needs any:)

I had a boyfriend last year who "didn't believe" in celebrating Valentine's day. I love the holiday and wanted to get him SOMETHING but didn't feel right going overboard.

I ended up baking some sugar cookies and used white, red (well, dark pink) and light pink frosting (vanilla frosting + food coloring) and put them in sandwich bags with the corner cut off to decorate them with little sayings...some of them just cute decorated hearts, others with our initials, some with "be mine" or "143" or "I love you" ...etc. He loved it!

Can never go wrong with food for a man, and the home made touch does so much more!

Alright so first off, the advil idea is pretty cool and sweet. You could empty out the container, put a cute little note in it, and some bite size chocolates that he likes.

Now, I need help with what to get my very own boyfriend! Haha. I was think of getting him a cute bear and spraying my perfume on it because he always comments on how good I smell and he loves it when he goes home and smells his shirts and it smells like me. I also had the idea taking a picture of him and I then putting it in a frame for him to have, not a big frame but big enough for him to have. Chocolates of course.... Any other ideas? Please help

Boys aren't interested in these sorta presents.

Chocolate and teddy bears? seriously? Sure, they'll smile at you and say thanks baby, i love it. But i bet you anything that the candy will end up being eaten, not appreciated. and that teddy will either take up lodgings at your place or in the back of his closet.

Do as some of these lovely ladies suggested. Sexy lingere. Its a fact that males think about sex every 7 seconds, even if its only for a split second.

My girl went to victorias secret today, and im getting excited for monday now.

But honestly girls, lingere and a blow job.

Done.

I think the advil is a cute idea but maybe to make it a little bit more fun you could just use an empty advil bottle and maybe make your own label for it and fill it with M&Ms or some other candy that looks like pills. That would be cute :)

I read a lot of the other comments and I don't think this one was mentioned yet, but I am thinking about making a calendar of 365 of my favorite memories with my boyfriend. Each day he can read a new memory and start his day off great :) Good luck! He will really like anything you make or get him. It's the thought that counts!

I cannot believe that CHILDREN are worried about what to get for their BOYFRIENDS! What is this world coming to. You are too young! Enjoy your childhood because before you know it its gone. I know I am speaking like an old lady, but I am only 22 it just makes me sick to my stomach to read that kids are dating. You shouldn't be worried about what to get your "boyfriend" for Valentine's Day, you should be more concerned with school and your friends.

Hey i am having a hard time trying to figure out what to get my boyfriend we are only 11 but we really like eachother. it is kinda hard to get him somthing if i dont know what he likes. unfortunately we are going on a school field trip for grade 6's to ecole de neige on velntines day. we are supposed to stay there for a few days. we are supposed to have our own cabins and we cant visit other cabins. we can only see eachother when we are doing activities. i want to get him something special to let him know that i really really like him. but i am not sure if he is getting me something. so far we have went to a dance together but we didnt really dance. he hung out with his friends and did his stuff and i hung out with my friends and did my stuff. we arent really into the relationship. what i mean by that is that we havent even hugged. we only talk to eachother after school and sit next to eachother all the time. so far i got him a teddy bear holding a heart in his hands and a card. no i am debating on whether or not i should get him heart candies or chocolate hershey kisses. i know he loves chocolate but maybe the kisses are to much! which one should i get? am i being to cheap? i am not sure if i want to get alot though cause i only see him at school and we dont talk on the phone. so i would have to give it to him at ecole de neige or after the trip at school. but what if he thinks i am weird cause he didnt get me anything. idk. what if people start to stare. i mean everyone knows we like eachother and that we are boy friend and girl friend but what if everyone starts laughing and stuff :( i dont know help me out!!!i need your advice and opinions.

I would definitely throw that bottle of advil in there with a silly note with it so he won't have to guess why you got him that.

But throw something else in with it, something sweet.

Don't make it all about sex, that's rediculous. Valentine's day is about love..not sex.

**Many guys like stuffed animals, but they won't admit it because they're too 'manly' for that kind of stuff. They like them because they're from YOU and they mean something to them.

i definitely think if you decide to give him advil put a note on it so you wont have to explain to him why your giving it to him or what its for. it should also be a side gift, get him something else more serious.also probably not roses or bears, that's not something most guys really like.

i would suggest make him a batch of his favorite cookies or cake, make him a red fleece tie blanket and spray it with your perfume, maybe movie tickets, or a favorite CD of a band he likes but doesn't have.

Girls.. Guys don’t want teddies and roses.. ok some might but I’ll say the majority of you aren't dating one of those! Valentine's day has been hyped up too much, it should be about the two of you spending time together, and guys like it simple so chocolate, cook him a nice meal or play dress up in the bedroom ;)

My boyfriend is cooking the meal this year so I’m getting some sexy lingerie, high heels and a bottle of JD for dessert ;)

Well I think it depends on what kind of guy it is, if it is a serious man get him something serious. If not get him something goofy. If you are grown-ups you can get him what he likes like if he likes sports, get him a baseball cap or a football jersey. If you are young teenagers then get him something like a hat for instance, teenagers like elmo or cookie monster hats so there ya go. What women/girl expect is usually a necklace or bracelet, and or a box of chocolates. IT IS EASIER FOR A GUY TO GET A GIRL SOMETHING!!!!

What i'm thinking of doing him for this lovely Valentines day is basically make a lot of the things. I'm going to make Chocolate covered Strawberries by a nice box to place them in. Make my own bed coupon, possibly throw in some love dice. Buy him boxers boxers, and a lighter that zaps back because he smokes and i absolutely hate it. It will definitely be really funny (i can't wait). Ill purchase some nice messaging oil, my boyfriend loves when i massage him. I will also buy him a picture frame that says i love you and customize it with our names and put a picture inside.. that's what i plan on doing... Sounds like a lot but its worth it.

Jeez, you guys are really going all out this year. I have been with my partner two years, and people who ave been dating theirs for 4 months are doing more than me!

Anyway, the trouble us girlies have is we go a bit mad, and get things that WE would like, rather than they would like. Obviously, some guys would love a bouquet of roses or a huge 'I love you' teddy or w/e, but in general, they are the kind of things we would like to receive.

The best thing would be to actually find out what kind of things he's into. Last year I took my guy out to his fave restaurant and finished the night off with some saucy fun. We both loved it and it cost me under £50 ;) (He took me clothes shopping and let me go mad with his credit card, woohoo! Needless to say he probably spent ALOT more than me!)

You don't have to spend a load of cash to show someone you love them. A naughty picnic (best done out of the public eye) can be great fun, a night in with your fave dvd is cute. I've been planning to have a steamy cooking session with my partner, where I doubt a lot of cooking will get done!

Go with the advil ;) You don't have to buy more than that. Inject a little fun into the day, and just go with the flow. Forget teddy bears and roses, spend some time together and enjoy eachother's company.

You don't have to spend money to be happy.

Isn't life grand? 3

my boyfriend and i have been dating or nearly a year and a half. last year, i bought a woven basket, a teddy bear, hershey kisses, a huge bag of m&ms, and a picture frame. i also bought confetti stuff to pile into the basket!

i put the bear in the basket, and it was holding the picture frame of us together. on the side there was the bag of m&ms and then there were lots of kisses sprinkled.

this year, i was thinking of buying a pillow case and having a good picture of us put on it. then im gonna get him some heart boxers, along with a short note consisting of "i love you" short, sweet. gets to the point real quick. =) and of course, to top it off, chocolates!

A female reader, .Sweetpea. United Kingdom +, writes (10 February 2010):

I think some of the home made gift ideas mentioned might work. Its a bit naff if you don't actually have any practical skills though. My boyfriend and i have been together for 3 years and we have the ice rink in our town booked out so we can skate alone :) Then we're avoiding the crowds with an indoor picnic at home ( i didn't forget the steak rule. ) A great opportunity for some unbridled evening-and-night long filth. I also treated myself to some new valentines underwear...which i hope to pass off as a part of his gift :)

He works in animation and is a bit of an arty farty type so i painted something for him. He collects a lot of the kidrobot figures so i got him a couple, and designed a home made Dunny.

We used to live apart and we would send a sketch book back and forth adding to it each time. Thats a pretty romantic idea for any long distance couples - Sketch book.

Its pretty hard to think of a general valentines gift for men...i guess you have to know your own boyfriend. I think a loose general rule would be to make it PRACTICAL. Sure...guys are romantic but i think usually they see teddy's and the other usual suspects as kind of cheesy and cliched? Unless hes into art its really going to have to be a gift he can use.

I think listing the reasons why you love him might be a bit overpowering, especially if the relationship is fairly new. Its a bit like saying i love you at the end of a phonecall...it doesnt mean much and its tedious. let him know all the reasons you love him throughout the year...the moment hes done something to remind you.

Spend valentines having a laugh and being a bit naughty :) Most guys are quite content with that alone x

To answer the question "What if we're not in love?" I think taking HIM out to a nice dinner, movie, or event would be a nice gesture. Ususally the guy pays for stuff so treat him and do something that's "on you". I find that doing that for my boyfriend every now and then makes me really appreciate all the times he does that for me (which is almost always). We are very much in love, but that doesn't mean it has to be all sex and love and mushy things on Valentines Day ;) He's not just my lover but my best friend too!

Ok, maybe this will give some of you ideas.:) Pay attention to the things your boyfriend likes and the things he uses the most. Because lets face it..guys love when you give them all your attention and when they know you actually pay attention.

I haven't been with my boyfriend very long, but i love him more than anything, and i wanted to show him that i do appreciate him and that i do pay attention. For example, my guy LOVES chocolate and anything with peanut butter, So i am going to bake him a batch of peanut butter brownies and wrap a red ribbon around them. I am also gonna buy him a bottle of Jack Daniels because all he drinks is Whiskey. 'Now this is where the advil comes in ;)' He can't hang with drinking, but he wont admit it haha. The next thing i have in mind is a boquet of roses, but im gonna place a fake rose in the middle of the boquet. Im gonna put a note on the vase that says “I will love you only until the last rose in this bunch dies. When the last rose in the bunch is wilted, has no petals, and is shriveled, my love will end. Do you understand?” cute right? :) And all of these things will be placed on a fancy silver serving tray.

--maybe pursuade him to get nice Valentines Day pictures with you. 'professionally done though' this would be nice if it's your first Valentines Day together.

I will be making our Valentine more exciting for him...

It will be a hands off game...

I will dress up comando covered only by my trench coat.

Since we live apart, this time I will let him know that I will fetch him in the evening. In my backseat will be a bottle of wine and light savoury snacks. We will then park under the stars in a quite spot. It will be hands off untill we get home. It will drive him nuts...

I will ofcourse have the extra saucy bits ready when we get home.

i think the headache pills are a funny gag gift. honestly it doesn't matter what you do as long as you both know how the other one feels. like last year i gave my boyfriend a poem i wrote for him, and he gave me a big hug. it was sweet since we didn't get to spend valentines day together. and this year i'm making him a cat stuffed animal cause he loves cats. i mean i guess i'm not really serious about the whole valentines day thing seeing as though i'm only in high school and i actually don't care for the holiday in the first place, but any chance i get to show him i love him is good enough for me.

Okay, so, after 4 years 8 months, I've realized Valentine's Day isn't really all that important. Show your guy you love him regardless of the day! If you really want to do something that is inexpensive, do something more creative. Draw a treasure map or write notes to him and leave them around the house as a scavenger hunt that will lead him to the next note. At the end lead him to your final gift. A picture, his favorite dinner, tickets, whatever your guys into. Its just the thought that counts. If you haven't been together too long just get him candy and a card or something. Moving to fast on his part with an expensive gift just isn't the right thing, chances are the relationship won't last long.

so here's what i decided on:

-a cute homeade card

-chocolate (obviously) hersheys kisses or something

- and most importantly; a jar of oragami stars that have quotes, inside jokes, reasons i love him, reminders, and song lyrics, on them when you unfold them.

i think he'll like it;

but you should remember, don't embarrass him.

like don't make him carry around flowers, and a huge teddy bear at school all day,

I think I'm getting my boyfriend a lot of chocolate-he loves chocolate and I card. We have only been dating since February 3,2007 and now is Feb. 8,2007 so that's only 6 days and I don't think I should get him something big right now...

Well i just started dating my boyfriend a few weeks ago, and i've really been debating on what to get him for valentines day. I mean, we havent been dating that long, and i'm not a big fan of valentines day. Anyways, i have a great idea of what to do for him. I am going to take a picture of us, and make it a little bigger. i am going to get a frame thats a size or two bigger then the picture, and as the border, there is going to be quotes from all of our favorite songs. Its very sentimental, and i think thats whats best on Valentines day. :)

purrfectionist84 agony auntYou don't talk to each other at all, except on the phone?! It sounds like you two need to arrange a special date in the near future! Are you in a long-distance relationship?

Well, in any case, when you talk to him on the phone, try to get his likes and dislikes out of him. A good way to do this would be to mention your own likes and dislikes, and see where he agrees or differs. This is also a great way to gauge what you two have in common, and what you don't!

For my boyfriend's birthday, I got him a giftcard that he could use toward purchasing a new cellphone because his phone was always cutting out whenever I talked to him. I also gave him some chocolate and a little Yankee candle because I knew that he likes chocolate, and that he likes to burn a little candle in his room at night.

For Christmas, I got him some cologne and a shirt from Abercrombie and Fitch (his favorite clothing store). Recently, I bought one of his favorite movies for him on DVD because I spotted it on an endcap at the store, and I thought of him and knew that he didn't own a copy. (This was a "just because" gift that didn't correspond to any particular occasion.) All of these gifts were special to him because they were things that he really liked or needed, and I remembered what his likes were. When I gave them to him, his face lit up like a small child's on Christmas morning!

If you can find out what your boyfriend likes (ask his parents, siblings, or friends if you don't want to ask him directly) and buy accordingly, then he will feel very special, and he will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Don't sweat it too much or go all out, though; you guys have only been dating for 3 months, so a small gift would be appropriate.

Good luck!

purrfectionist84 agony auntIt's never too soon to start planning...

How long have you guys been dating?

Valentine's Day is also my boyfriend and I's one-year anniversary, so it'll be quite the special occasion and will require some careful thought and planning. I'll probably get my boyfriend a nice card and some chocolate, and one or two other things. I'll also make sure to take some time out of my busy schedule to spend a few hours with him, and we'll probably go out for lunch or dinner. Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most, especially when you're both college students and you don't have a lot of money!

If your boyfriend has a good sense of humor, then he'll probably appreciate the goofy gift, but I think that you should also get him something romantic and meaningful. You know his personality and his likes and dislikes, so only you can make the call when deciding what is or isn't an appropriate gift for Valentine's Day.

Good luck and happy planning!
