Using family in order to get closer to your ex?

Why would someone befriend your sibling in order to get closer to you although you aren't interested in him/her anymore?

The other part about it is that the sibling isn't aware of the ulterior motive of the other person; in fact, the sibling thinks that the other person is still in a relationship with his/her brother/sister.

Am I the only one who views this as stalkerish or even borderline psychotic?
