reader, anonymous, writes (13 June 2009): Do you see her often? Can you simply try to strike up simple conversation a little bit more regularly? It may take a while if you are not on her radar--it simply may not even have hit her that you are a possibility, which is not to say that she will never notice you in that way. Just give her some non intrusive positive attention with some regularity, and she may naturally recognize you as a great guy who is well suited for her. In my experience, especially when the man was significantly older, I just didn't have the "receptors" to recognize his attentions, it just didn't occur to me that he could possibly be interested in me and I in him. Just be friendly and sweet, let your best qualities shine in your actions and words around her, even if they are not directly intended for her.
