A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I need help. My friend has a guy friend that she likes and he was her first kiss. He used to call her beautiful, and once he got a girlfriend that whole close bestfriend relationship changed. She tells me that she doesn't find herself beautiful. And she doesn't believe anyone that calls her pretty unless it comes from him. She cries and tells me she loves him and that if anything happend to him she doesn't know what she would do. She's always unhappy and cries alot and I feel bad for her. I have no idea what to tell her.

I need help! please any advice!

What advice can I give her to move on?

I think her behaviour is over the top and perhaps she needs professional help? How long is this been going on?

She clearly has low self esteem so that needs building up to start with, get her to changer her hair or take her shopping to buy new clothes or just a new dress - join a gym, cycle or get her jogging. Excersise makes you feel good. Go out at night so she sees there are other men - she doesnt have to date yet, just flirt

Refuse to listen to self pity or her talking about this man - change the subject. Or leave and come back next day.

Your actions will show her she has to move on

You are a good friend and she's lucky to have you around!
