First, make sure that she has a way to care for them after you present them. If she has to carry them around all date thats just a big pain.

I like to grow roses but they are a major cliche to give. I think lillies and iris look great and are much fresher a presentation than roses. BTW if she works in an office or professional setting, having them delivered is great. All the women crowd around and it give your girl a lot of status.

Phyrekiss agony auntFor a first date you dont want to get her anything too serious. Keep it simple and just buy her one rose. A white rose symbolizes friendship, for example, and would be a nice choice for a first date.
