is it possible to turn off feelings for someone just because it isn't very practical at the moment? because this girl i know liked me a whole lot, but has a boyfriend. and she says that she put those feelings for me on hold, even though she's liked me for a really long time. i guess my question is do you think people really can get rid of those feelings because it's what is practical, or do you think they still feel it, but pretend they don't?

Yeah, I'd say you have the right idea. People can't help the way they feel. You can't turn emotions on and off like lightswitches. If you could, the world would be a lot less crazy, or maybe it would be crazier! Anyways, this girl is just telling herself that she can't let herself like you because she is now involved with someone else and doesn't want to feel guilty. It sounds like she wants YOU on hold in case her current honey doesn't work out. Don't be a back-up plan. You can do better than that. I hope you will. I wish you the best of luck and I hope everything turns out okay. Stay smart!
