I can't move on even though I am the one who ended things!

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hi everyone.

I broke up with my boyfriend after 3 months in February. Recently I have really started to miss him, though I don't know whether this is because I miss having someone to talk to or whether I actually miss him.

Our relationship was quite messy and when I think about the reasons I broke up with him, I know I was right to but then I start feeling confused again.

I think the basis of this is that I just can't move on from him even though It was me who ended it.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to move on? I have never experienced this feeling before- I just find myself craving to talk to him.

It sounds to me like you miss the idea of him rather than him. Get yourself out there again, find someone new because there's no point getting back with him when you weren't happy the first time.

Forget about him, find someone new. You don't want to mess people about.

Go out to pubs, clubs, bars, the gym, whatever you're into and find someone new and interesting, talk to them, get to know them and see what's out there for you.
