whos saying that you have to stroll up to him and declare your feelings there and then? set the scene.
are you two mates? you've got to make sure that hes the right guy for you otherwise you could just wind up with even more problems.
you've got to make connections. find things that you both like and dwell on that, the situation doesn't have to be awkward :)
tell us some more information about the problem so everyone can answer in confidence :)
