writes:You're waiting line outside an outdoor fast food joint. There's this group of annoying stoners standing in front of you. Saying stupid things like, "you just can't do half a scoop! [of ice cream]". But then there is this girl in the group who isn't annoying, and is being quiet. You can tell she's bored. You're not sure if you like this girl, but you already know that she is hot and she's bored by the annoying stoners. This is sufficient reason to be attracted.You look her way, but she doesn't look at you. Maybe it's because she's stoned, and wants to avoid an awkward interaction. But you want to engage her somehow. Her friends keep saying stupid things, and you wonder why she's with them. You wonder, is she using them for pot, or are friends actually cool when they're not stoned? You can't tell. A thought also slips into your mind that she isn't cool. You are getting frustrated! These friends keep talking. She keeps staying quiet and not looking your way. You want to break it up and just talk to her and say something, but don't want to be awkward. Plus, you feel her friends would interfere with any effort you make. What do you do? How do you win this girl? Reply to this Question

reader, anonymous, writes (4 April 2008): I guess talk to her, but is she standing in a group of 26-29 year old stoners, or 15-18 year old stoners? And if she hangs with this group like that... that isn't something a mature person does, even if she is being quiet.
