Question - (19 September 2009) 3 Answers - (Newest, 19 September 2009)
A male United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Hi guys, I hope you can help.

I found out today I have a group assessment and individual interview down in London next week for a 6 month paid placement, these placements often lead to full-time work.

I have been to interviews before for part-time jobs such as working in a restaurant, but never one that could begin my career in television, this is huge, i'm already excited and nervous!

I was just wondering if people had any advice on how to keep calm, come across well and make myself stand out from the other interviewees.

Thanks for any advice given guys!

Sit upright and slightly forward. Keep your hands on the table, smile, make good eye contact. Introduce pauses for effect. Confidence will come from good preparation. Good luck! Fifth Quadrant. See also web-link below.

A male reader, koenig United Kingdom +, writes (19 September 2009):

Do practice interviews with anyone that is prepared to help, it'll make it easier for you to answer on the day. Do as many as you can. You can also write out questions you think you may be asked and prepare answers to them.

If you've sent ahead a CV and/or personal statement, make sure you're completely certain about what you wrote, you may be asked about it.

Try to relax as much as you can. Subtle humour goes a long way.
