How do I make it clear that I would like a date without scaring him off?

ok, i basically want to know how to ask out this guy i know who has social anxiety disorder. we met about 3 weeks ago and i knew instantly that i liked him, so i chatted to him online and stuff. he asked me to the cinema, but just as friends, and we've been to a couple of gigs together with friends. we're pretty good friends now, not on secret sharing terms but yeah. we went on a night out together earlier this week and i told him i liked him and asked if he liked me - he said yes. the problem that i have now is how do i ask him out on a date and make sure he KNOWS that it is definitely a date, without scaring him off and without making him feel like he has to say yes?
