Well all i can say is go with your instincts. if you think he likes you go for it but if you think the magic may have gone recentley i say that there is plenty more fish in the sea.  I don't know whether he fancies you as I don't know him, but I do think he is playing a not-very-nice game with you. If he does like you, he should be nice to you all the time, no matter who else is around.
However, he may feel you are just friends and that he doesn't have to make a great effort to speak or smile because you're just like his mates to him. Maybe he fancies the girls you're with!!!
I don't mean this to be upsetting, I just want to you know how confusing guys can be when it comes to feelings, especially at his age. Maybe he likes you, maybe he doesn't but unless you plan on getting him alone and asking him, I don't think you will ever find out.
Move on, he's immature and doesn't know what he wants. Good luck
