If you value your friendship with your friend, then you would leave well alone.
Even if you ask him out, he could reject you too.
And if your friend did find out, you wouldn't gain anything at all, except losing your friend into the bargain!
Think long and hard. Don't make a rash decision, but do what you feel is right.
