I am living on my own, I am new to the environment, I don't talk to my neighbours and they don't talk to me. I don't rush to say good morning, they don't either, only the guys talk to me, and have been friendly only 2 guys, what do you think about this?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (2 May 2009):

which guys talk to you? the nieghbour guys?

i live on my own too and dont talk to my neighbours but we have said hi before.

They dont know you and often people keep to themselves and dont want to bother others - they often want to keep out of the way and let other people live their own life. Not get involved. You dont have to be best friends with yr neighbours, sometimes its better to keep to a bit of distance esp as a female living alone.

Be polite if they say hi and leave it at that - say hi - dont push or go out of your way to be friends.

hope this helps
