Do I wait to see if he gets in a better place?

Question - (11 January 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 11 January 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have a friend who I've been in love with for quite some time now. Last night, I could no longer hold it in anymore and I confessed that I am in love with him.

He told me that he did not feel that he could be in a relationship right now because his life isn't going to great for him. (Which is the truth.) He also added that he's always hidden behind relationships to make him feel more worthy. And that he's really trying to change that about himself.

He didn't exactly rule being with me in the future out. He told me that I'm a great friend, and really has nothing to do with me.

My question is this: I am truly and madly in love with this man, and I'm willing to wait and see if it does happen. I understand, and am proud of him for making these changes. But I'm at a loss for words to say, do I wait and see, or just move on?

OSCARS MUMMY agony auntwell i would keep him as a good freind but dont push it - he may not like you in that way and was just trying to let you down gently but dont even go there with him as it will just push him away. I think he is happy being your friend and sometimes that has to be good enough
