Could this small talk have been an indication of interest?

A male United States age , anonymous writes:

I have often wondered if you are having your items totalled up by a cashier and she makes small talk about a couple items you have that are expensive for example I was buying a couple frozen diners and this young lady I'd say 20 mentions that they were expensive and I told her but they are good and she then checks what I am buying like meat loaf and pasta.

My question is could this small talk have been an indication of interest? Now keep in mind I am 50 and she I'd say 29 or early 20's.

Every now and then I will get cashiers that will do and some are closer to my age but wonder if it might be a sign of interest.
