I dont think you can just stop being love sick, but things will settle in time.
Many people get lovesick when they have split up, but some get lovesick when they are away from their partner.
My fiancee lives 300 miles away from me, I am lovesick all the time.

Thanks for all your answers they are much appreciated!!!!

Yes, I have been love sick
You think about the person 24/7, you cant sleep and you stop eating.
It is a horrible, horrible feeling being apart from the one you love.
It is similar to depression in the sense that people who have never suffered with it can never really understand the feelings of the sufferer.

na i dont think there is a love sick thing. there is a first love and these are the signs you cant stop thinking of them, you want to be with them all the time you can never picture your self with out them nor with any body else and you think this person is the best in every way to the point you cant even look at any body else and if any one hurt this person youd kill them your totally truthful reliable and loveing to them.

"Love-sick" is a figure of speech. It usually refers to someone is very, very deeply in love, but the other person isn't interested in them. In a situation like that, the feeling of love and rejection combined can make you feel so bad you might describe it as a sickness (metaphorically). You'll know it when you feel it.
