Question - (6 December 2018) 4 Answers - (Newest, 7 December 2018)
A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I was talking to a male friend about being practical in things like diy and jokingly said that in my next life I would marry someone practical like my dad. His reply was.....lol we all have our thing not found mine yet (laughing emoji).

I didn't quite get it and asked him what he meant but he has not replied yet. Can anyone advise me what he was trying to say. Sorry for sounding dim about it.

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 December 2018):

He's not sure what his strong-points or special talents might be; jury's still out. Not sure of a type. He's still undecided.

Humorously saying, you've got life and an ideal mate figured-out; and he's still figuring-out who he is. Not implying anything romantic; just speaking rhetorically.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (6 December 2018):

I think he meant. All have found what they want but I still haven't. I don't think his statement has any emotional undertone or anything like that if you are looking for one. I think he was just being sarcastic in response to what you have said. i.e you want someone like your dad.

Sounds like 'we all have our talents and I haven't found mine yet', meaning he's no good at DIY and doesn't know what he's good at yet. IMHO.

I would take it he meant what he is looking for in a partner he hasn't found yet...lots of people use emojis just to try and put an emotion to the text and it shows he was saying it in a jokey way and not being miserable about it
