Can relationships still work after one of you has cheated?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, *onfuzzled_Hannah writes:

Hi. I've been with my boyfriend for over two years now. I got told he'd cheated on me (slept with someone else) just after we had been together for a year. Obviously, I can't know whether or not it happened, because he says he doesn't remember. But I just wanted to know if relationships can still work out after there's been cheating involved?

A male reader, anonymous, writes (5 December 2007):

Not without complete honesty to restore your trust, and although you want to believe him, someone who claims they can't remember whether they cheated in the midst of a multi-year relationship is simply lying. I'm afraid it's far more likely they can't remember which time you're talking about and have resorted to a cover-all lie to keep from having to lie about specific occasions--he's sticking with the big lie to keep from being caught lying about details.

If he cheated, then he didnt love you. Sorry to say it,but once a cheat always a cheat.Cheating is by choice, not by force.
