reader, anonymous, writes (9 February 2008): If i was you i would make the cake of his choice and decorate it with little heart shaped chocolates. Or just get some heart shaped biscuit cutters and make some cookies and gift wrap them. Remember it is the thought that counts so dont worry about it. Hand made stuff always looks good to me.

Difficult one, this. What could a woman make that a man would like? Do you have access to a brewery or a distillery? No? Probably not enough time anyway! How about his favourite cake? A handmade Valentines card? - there's nothing quite like the personal touch! Blimey, you've got me (and the missus) stumped here.
How about a beeline for the bedroom? I dunno really. I'm assuming you're not an engineer, so it would be difficult to make him a set of spanners for his car.
If it was me, I'd be quite happy with a card, a kiss and a chocolate orange. In fact, sod the card just give us a kiss and a chocolate orange!
