A male reader, DJ8433 United States +, writes (13 August 2007):

DJ8433 agony auntA little healthy paranoia never kiled anybody. Did you try asking him? When people lie they tend to look away and connot look you in the eye. When you get a chance, ask him. Stand face to face, hold him your hands in his, lovingly and say "john, I thought I heard a phone vibrating the other morning, did you have a phone?" Trust your gut if he's lying or telling the truth. If you think he's lying then you know you need to be on the lookout for other signs of possible cheating. If you two are not that tight, and you can't be bothered then move on.
