writes:Hi guys, So i need some help pleaseEver since my grandma died on boxing day 2008, I have believed more in god (my gran was extremely religious) and so i have attended church with my mum on a regular basis and asked the vicar about getting confirmed. I am not taking confirmation classes but i was asked to find out my baptism date, however being adopted I had to get in touch with birth relatives and she seems to think i wasnt and cant find any evidence. The church near where i lived as a baby is looking into it but there is a strong possibility i am not. I have explained this to my vicar and he has given me a baptism application. On it however it talks about godparents, he said i dont need them because i am 23 but it would mean alot to me as i am adopted and think it would help me belong to my new family. The vicar suggested that perhaps instead of godparents, I choose adult sponsors but i dont know what they are. Does anyone have any ideas please? Also what do they have to do? I am due to be baptised in the service before my confirmation and i dont know what my 'sponsors' would have to do. It makes me feel like a charity!Any advice would be grately appreciatedThanksEm xxReply to this Question Share |
