A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

I have had a little crush on one of my teachers for quite a while. He is quite young for a teacher, and i was his first ever class to teach when i was in second year of high school (im in scotland so i was 13/14 at the time) i didnt have him as a teacher for two years, and I have him again. Now that I am 16, I have noticed a few things that he is doing that makes me wonder if he fancies me.

He is a laid back teacher, and when there is a joke told in class, he always snaps his head to watch me laugh, and he smiles at me. Also, he always comes to talk to me during class, and in after-school classes, when it's me and about 6 other students in the classroom, and him, he sits beside me. When he is explaining things to me, he moves his leg so it is against mine, and he keeps it there. I thought he didnt notice his leg was there, but he keeps doing it. He always smiles at me, and laughs at my jokes.

I just want to know if it's my crush doing weird things to my head, or if he likes me. All opinions appreciated but be nice :) Thanks

something happened today that was a bit weird...

i got my hair done the day before and wore my hair differently to school today, and i got a lot of compliments from my friends. when i was leaving his class he said my hair made me look nice. one of my friends overheard him and joked with me that my boyfriend had competition with him.. later that day in an after-school class he smiled at me a lot and sat on the empty desk beside mine while he talked to the class..

im so confused :(

Me and him just get on so well. he is a genuine lovely guy, you would understand if you met him, that he isnt dodgey. apart from leg brushing he hasnt asked or tried anything, and he would never do that. And i wouldnt let him if he did, because i would instantly lose all respect i had for him. I will wait until i leave school before doing anything about it because his job, that he loves with all his heart, matters more.

he's only 10 years older than me

thanks for ur help xx

LLindy87 agony auntsounds like you both are dancing on thin water here. He is risking his career on you a little bit and I hope you don't let him.

Think about the age of the teacher and is it appropriate for him to be attracted to a 16 year old girl?

I remember a teacher I had one time, during this spirit week I had wore really red lipstick and it was a part of my dressing up for that day, I was 14 at the time told me "I like your lipstick, it makes you look really mature. Very pretty"...thinking back on that...that was such an inappropriate comment to make. He was probably like 30 maybe. But still, its different because you like your teacher and I didn't feel an attraction to this one, but just be weary of the situation and that he's older and knows better to risk everything he's worked towards on lust.

During after school session when the classroom is a lot quieter, he always sits beside me, even when I dont need his help.

My friends always give me looks when I come out of his classroom. They know I have a small crush on him, because nearly every girl does anyway. And some of my friends at study support think he really does like me because when I got a new haircut he said it made me look pretty. As soon as he said it, he realised what he said and looked worried.

LLindy87 agony auntsounds like it could be in your head, but maybe not.

pay attention to how he treats other students in the classroom, does he get real close when he talks to other girls? Also, do your friends notice the extra treatment he gives you? I know you probably aren't talking about this with your friends, but have they mention anything like you being a teacher's pet or anything? because that could maybe shed some light on your situation.

btw, I'd try to move on because as your teacher his career will be shot if anything were to happen.

I really "love" my teacher probably lust but Ive liked him for 4 years and when you like someone you over analyze everything from the smile to the "accidental" brushes..if you really like this man then wait until you are 18 and left school if you want to date him...that is what Im gonna do if the teacher that I like really does like me.
