I messed up on my first attempt. Any snogging tips?

A few day's ago I went on a date with my boyfriend. I am in year 8 and he is in year 9. We have only been going out for just a week. On the end of the date he went to kiss me with his lips a bit open, and I tried to snog him but he was doing it too quickly for me and I ended up messing it up. I really don't know what to do, because I really want to snog him but it is my first time and I don't know how and if i do it wrong again, it will be just be really embarrassing. Please help me!? I really need some tips, i dont want to mention it to him again but he really wants to snog me and i have to do it right, please help?
