writes: hi, i was recently broken up with. we went out for 10 months. arguing was happening, we had problems. i wanted to sit down, relax, and talk about our issues and feelings with each other. most of the time in the past she would think problems would brush off and fix themself automatically. but i always beleived we had to work it out to fix problems. anyway, this continued and i got frustrated with her quite a bit, and then she called for a break, i kept contacting her and talking to her, but hse got frustrated with me and told me i was dumping my shit on her, even tho it was both of our shit. she agreed to come over and talk things out one day, and she broke up with me. she told me she thought things couldn't change. i have a big feeling and lots of memories from the past that makes me believe she didnt even try to compromise. my question is; why would she jump the gun like that?

reader, anonymous, writes (1 June 2007): Maybe in her eyes you did do most of the damage. Men and women think very differently from one another. But that doesn't mean that you did. If you have been arguing a lot, that's a bad sign that you're not both on the same page. I guess all you can do is to give her time, and if you want her back then tell her straight up. If she doesn't want you back then you have to let it be.

A lot of people have a problem with placing blame after a relationship has ended. She's not ready to accept the fact that she did anything to damage the relationship, and therefore puts the blame on you. That's not healthy, and it's time for you to move on.
