Question - (31 May 2010) 6 Answers - (Newest, 21 August 2010)
A male United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

So I'm a guy and I'm 15. I live a very boring life, in fact i have no life at all and no TRUE friends. It sucks. It's pretty lonely and sad. And lately I've been getting a real desire to find someone to call my own. To be in love, to fall in love, to be loved. And even though I've never been in a relationship..I'm pretty sure I'm gay or bi. I seem to like guys more than girls. I won't admit it but it's a fact. And I don't know what to do. For one thing it's hard with all previous emotions, now I have to deal with the fact of being gay. I used to always be called gay..not so much now since puberty hit hard and I'm all football jock looking now...but I still walk on seashells with me..to not let my sexuality show so much. But the point this...I don't know if I'll ever be in love. Or find someone who actually wants me. I don't know what to do.. I'm tired of being alone. What should I do?

Well Hun, it's ok to be gay or bi. Some of my friends are. And I haven't found anybody to love yet; it just takes time.

Odds agony auntLife doesn't start until your mid-20's for most guys. Be patient, study hard, get a good job, and save up some money. Learn to love yourself and others, not because it will make them love you, but because it feels good to do so.

Love and good friends don't just crawl out of the woodwork. Join a school club, or sport, or take up a hobby, and make some friends there.

Also accept that, as a gay man (man-in-training, I guess, at 15), there will be fewer relationship opportunities for you than for heteros simply because of numbers. Be patient.

I agree- you sound 100% normal for your age. Relax and realize that you're walking the same path that a 1,000 of us have... you lucky, in that you have resources (like this web site) where you can hear that. I just had to sit in fear, and years later found out that virtually everyone around me was going through the same kind of stuff.

Hang in there- time will deal with all this!

princessJaye14 agony auntYou don't have to be so cautious about your life. It's only the beginning. I read in numerous puberty books that teens face a time in their life when they like someone of the same sex. Over the years I've noticed that I get infatuation stares from both guys and girls. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Also, that little love parasite that's biting your butt right now will leave soon. I was affected by it for four years but now that it's freshman year, I found my guy. don't worry, you won't be a widow for life; it will all come. When I used to cry in my room about it, my mom would say that one day it would all work out and someone will fall for your personality. So, dont sweat it. It's just a phase, and like all phases, will pass. Good luck!!

sunnycomet agony auntRelax, you are only 13-15. I didn't find my love til 19 and I never dated before either.

You are still so young...you should try to figure who you are before you go wanting a relationship. I know you want to be loved-everyone does.

I wouldn't worry about trying to find someone now though, instead concentrate on who you are. What you like and don't like. Find some TRUE friends (which will be hard but with effort you will be surprised at some of the amazing ppl you meet.)

Good Luck!
