None of us are prefect we all mistakes and hopefully we learn by them.I notice that you did not mention your sons age.Taking his age into consideration. i suggest that you have a long chat with your son and help to clear up the issue he has whem he saw you with this other man all those years ago. This issue has to be discussed.Your son still loves you but he is feeling hurt at what he may not understand. This may take time but have as many chats as it takes.

I don't believe there is any real way you can win over your son, parents separating can be traumatising for a child let alone him finding out in your circumstances.
The likelyness is high that hes decided to side with his father, because the divorce was instigated by you.
With children your reasoning is falling on deaf ears they only see 'Mummy hurt Daddy' or vice versa not why it happened.
As a child of divorce myself, i was confused and conflicted up until i was mature enough to come to the realisation why things happened how they did.
I would suggest maybe explaining to him or trying to come to some sort of understanding of why you divorced, if your son is young (11 or under) i would suggest going to a professional for more advice on what steps to make next.
Good luck
