 You are not a slut. My concern is how you are using sex. or better yet how sex is using you. I am sad to say young teenagers as as adult sometimes over use sex as a means of control or release to frustration. If you are asking if you are a slut then perhaps its time to take a look inward.  To me, that is quite a large number for all the older you are, but I say if you cared for the guys and the relationships just didn't work out rather than you just had sex JUST to have sex, then no I wouldn't call you a slut.

If this girl wants to act like an adult with regard to her sexuality, you can't really expect me to tone down my response just because of her age. I don't think there's any value in treating a girl like this with kid gloves; if she thinks she's mature and adult enough to sleep with over a dozen guys, then I'll respond to her in kind. Toning it down would just create the illusion that there are no consequences for her actions.
In all honesty, my first response was so blunt because hearing about cases like this really and truly disturbs me. Already at thirteen guys at seventeen years of age - to me, it's proof positive that sex is becoming more and more devalued and commodified in today's world.

I think that if you are worried about it enough to post the question- then you have already given yourself the answer. It matters what you think of yourself- do your actions give you self respect? If the answer is yes, then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

 The anonymous male reader is really very very blunt in his response ( come on, anonymous male reader ! She's just seventeen after all! ) but he makes a good point when he says what matter is whether YOU think you are a slut or not. It's not like there is an official slutometer that rings a bell when you reach a certain number of men. You have to decide what you feel Ok with. Do you enjoy having a wide variety of partners ,with no regrets and no remorses ? Then go ahead,love away ( and always carry condoms with you ! ). Do you feel ashamed or embarassed or guilty about your sexual behaviour ? Then change it at once. Simple,isn't it ?

I wouldn't as it's your body and your choice.
But men are far more judgemental and most men would think that yes, you are a "slut" or what ever you want to call it.
Why have you slept with so many people? Is it the only way you feel good about yourself? Or to try and make boys like you?
Saying no to guys and making them wait gives you a far better feeling than letting them have you. Most guys your age are rubbish in bed anyway.

reader, anonymous, writes (24 April 2010): To be blunt, yeah, I definitely think that makes you a slut - and a slut of pretty epic proportions at that (cue the line of harpies screeching that no one, much less a man, ever has the right to call a woman a slut).
Look, it's a subjective question. I think that sleeping with 13 people by the age of 17 makes you a raging slut, but other people will disagree. What matters here is what you think of yourself. Do you feel fine about having had sex with that many guys at your age? If so, more power to you. On the other hand, if sleeping with that many guys makes you feel terrible about yourself, then you should cut that behaviour the hell out.

But you are young and you should think it over seriously before you go to bed with someone...then you wouldnt have these kind of questions or fears that you are a slut.
