writes:hey me again,i posted this question on the careers sister site, but it doesnt look like that one gets used very much, so ill post it here aswell, basically i work in a supermarket as a checkout operator, and most of my shifts are in the evening, 1 in the afternoon. they are: sun half 1-half 4, mon 4-half 7, tues 6-9, wed half 4-8, thur 4-half 7, fri nd sat off.basically because i work these hours most of the people i like to spend time with work with the school hours, or office hrs, which is 9-5, mon-fri, and i would like to change my hrs so that i work with the school/office hrs, and therefore able to spend time with friends/family.im not around on my days off as i spend time with my partner, but at least i would be able to spend evenings after work with friends.another option ive considered is working mornings, seeing as the store i work in opens at 8, i could finish at 12 or 1 then have the rest of the day to myself, but even starting at 9 i could finish at 1 and have the afternoon to myself.im currently working part time doing 16 nd a half hrs, but i would also like to up my hrs 2 at least 20.does anyone no if id b able 2 do this as i really want to, then i wud b alot happier and actually want to pick up extra shifts, as at the minute, its all the evenig shifts tht need picking up, wen im always workin, so if friend are unavailable i can always pick up an extra shift, then b able 2 earn more money, nd eventually tht can lead 2 b bein able 2 treat myself or treat a friend 2 drink wen im old enuff 2 go out.sorry to make it long but help is urgently needed as i reli dont feel happy with my shifts as they are

You need to talk to your supervisor/boss/manager at work and tell them that you would like to change your working hours.
They will ask why though and if you say its so you can socialise they might not agree as some bosses just don't care about their employees work/life balance :(
So you might want to think of some other 'reason' why you need to change.
But in the end, places like supermarkets depend on people to work shift work and dodgy hours, so they might not be able to let you change your hours. If that happens, you may want to consider finding another job.
