I have this tattoo idea I'm thinking about getting but I wanted a female perspective on the matter. I wanted it to be red lips starting above my right shoulder at my lower neck (just low enough so I can cover It by slipping on a tie if necessary) the having other "kisses" kinda spreading around my shoulder muscle...dunno what It's called. I was also considering a small set of lips just behind my ear? But yeah those are my 2 ideas so tell me what ya think k :P

It seems like your guy friends would give you hell for that if you're straight. It seems a little feminine.

I don't think girls would like to see sets of lips on you either.

marietomates agony auntAre you straight or gay? As a straight woman who thinks tattoos on men are attractive ...I don't find either of those ideas sexy. To a woman it's like another woman's lips have been on your body...but they're there permanently. Just a little weird. But if you really like the idea then go for it, because it's gonna be on your body for the rest of your life so the most important opinion is your own! Good luck!

SirenaBlusera agony auntI've had henna tattoos. They only last a week or so, but there's no commitment.

Ginalolabridga agony auntWhy not have a trial one first with henna? that way you can look at it and have a good think if it is really what you want.

Tattoos are fine as long as they are not OTT and i personally dont mind them as long as they are tastefully done i dont think you will have any problems.

SirenaBlusera agony auntPinktopaz, I think tribal tattoos are cool looking even if they're not as ubiquitous now.

But it's a good point, don't get it because other people like it or because it's trendy... trends change and who cares what people think. Get it because YOU want it!! :)

A female reader, SirenaBlusera United States +, writes (3 July 2009):

SirenaBlusera agony auntI think that tattoos are sexy on guys... this morning I was just thinking about a hot guy from college who had a few on his leg.

There are a couple things you should keep in mind, though.

The place where you get it done... you wanna be sure that it's a place that will take good care of your health, and you want quality. I have a great article to share with you and other readers, as well, by the way.

Second... this is obvious but it's permanent... you shouldn't get a tattoo if you're not 110% sure that you can live with it. I'd take some time, think things over.

I don't have any tattoos, but I DID get a navel piercing once. I think tattoos are sexy on guys... but, they're just not me. Besides I've been in theatre and occasionally I acted. If I *had* to get a tattoo (hypothetical), I would like to get one of an Andalusian horse. I've loved horses for so many years, I can't imagine ever getting sick of them. I don't think I'll ever get a tattoo, though, but I would totally date a guy with one (if I liked him).

Here's the article I promised you!

I wouldn't get it behind my ear, if I were you. I think that tattoos are sexy, but it's good to be selective about where you get it. I would get it in a place that can be exposed in public, but also covered with clothes.

As far as the design... I don't dig the red lips design, but the important thing is that you're sure you want it.

I always thought Stevie Ray Vaughan's tattoo (the guitar player) was cool (a weird bird like an eagle/phoenix). He was butt-ugly, but he had a cool tattoo.

Hmm the boy at my college had a tattoo of calligraphy... and I think a dragon, among others. It's weird, I can't remember for sure. I just remember he was a hot Mexican guy! (And I suppose still is, haven't seen him in five years, he's probably got married/kids now) :)

Cerberus agony auntI agree with pinktopaz, stay away from trendy tattoos if you can, ones that everyone has, get old quickly and become annoying to have when you see how many others have the same thing.

The best thing about a tattoo should be that it is as unique as you are, design something yourself and try and stay away from the norm.

My girlfriend got a tribal "tramp stamp" (the overused lower back type) a few years ago when every girl was getting one, she now hates it and regrets having it.

She recently had a tat she designed herself done on her side and ribs and she loves it. It's a flowing mozaic design with no colour and she has my name in the centre of it (don't worry hehe it's on a part that could easily be filled in and still look good)

Bleh. I've been seeing so many of those lately, too trendy. Trendy tattoos are especially the ones you end up regretting. I got a tattoo when I was 18 and that's when tribal was popular. Yuck, I hate it now and wish I never got it.

As far if any ladies like it. I'm sure some girls will. I don't because everyone and their mom has lips tattooed on their neck or some other region.

MansonGroupie agony auntOoh, this sounds similar to an idea that I had...When I say 'idea I had', I actually mean saw it on a tattoo artist on Miami Ink!!!

I'd like to get a pair of lips on my neck, however my fella isn't too impressed and says it will send out the wrong messages?!

I like your first idea though, the lips at the base of your neck and then spread across your shoulders/shoulder blades...Sounds hot! Would you get them done in red?

I think it's a good plan as you can cover them up if & when needed. Go for it! :) xx

LOLS!

unusual but cool :) i got a tattoo myself quite random so you know.
