Why do men think they can get away with cheating?

Question - (31 January 2011) 12 Answers - (Newest, 1 February 2011)
A female United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

I am 43 and have been in a relationship with this guy for 3 years. He is divorced with 2 children and I have 2 children. His teenage son introduced him to this woman a year ago and evidently they were attacted to one another. I discovered the relationship on facebook. He deleted me and my children from his page and added her. He didn't know I was still able to see what was going on. He introduced her to his family last year during Christmas. She posted pictures. I have never met any of his family members. He always said that they were estranged. He is white and I am black.

So when I saw pictures of him and the new woman with his family I was shocked (she's black too), they seemed to be very accepting of her. He has constantly lied and said that she was a childhood friend that he was helping out and the family already knew her. Well, he recently moved her and her daughter in stating they needed a place to live. I asked her and she stated they were in a relationship and he asked her to marry him. He is constantly lying.

I don't want to hear it because I am done. I just wanted him to come clean about the relationship so that I can have closure. That's not going to happen, he is lying to her about me and lying to me about her. She is still there and I am moving on. I just wanted to know from some of the men, why did he think that he could get away with having the both of us? We are too old for these childish games and we are both educated professionals. I tried to get him to come clean but to no avail. I just needed to let off some steam. He definitely thinks that he has done nothing wrong. He calls me crazy but I think he is nuts. Why do men feel the need to cheat? I am still hurting right now. I really loved him.

You should take your face book creeping a step further and delete your account. That way you won't torture yourself from creeping in and out. You're driving yourself crazy over a man who's moved on.

I'm sorry this happened to you. My childhood sweetie hurt me the same way. His last words to me were 'Sorry but I didn't want to break your heart. You're going to make some guy lucky. See you around.' It destroyed my life. I'm in therapy. Do therapy, that'll ease the gruesome reality and sting. Good luck.

you had the proof that he was fucking you over yet you kept yourself in the sit based on his lies which you knew were lies. That was the worst thing you could've done because he's no dummy.

He knew you were grasping for straws not wanting to face it and was letting you down easy by still giving it to you and in a sick way getting his nuts off all along. You need to never have anything to do with that dog no matter how much you love him. Cut all contact with him no excuses. He slapped you in your face so now you knock him out cold!

bernergirl agony auntI know you want male opinions on this...but I went through something almost identical! I busted him! Because a liar is someone who needs to keep secrets. I think the best thing you can do is to break the secret. I guarantee you a relationship that has begun from infidelity will 100% fail. They always do. I believe that if you are not mature enough to get out of a relationship, then you were never mature enough to begin a relationship. I also think that men (or for that fact..women) who cheat are selfish, narcissistic and suffer from personality disorders.

It sounds like she won the "cheating boyfriend" award! Such a nobel prize. Its not okay to cheat! Don't forget it, because the next weeks will challenge this belief. Somewhere a long the line you'll begin to question it. You did not do anything wrong! A lot of cheaters will attempt to justify their actions, they will use excuses that the relationship was lacking, that you drove him away...anything but take responsibility for their actions within a relationship. Just remember "If they are dumb enough to leave, be smart enough to let them go!"

I do it because the woman I'm with isn't meeting my standards so I string her along to get as much mileage out of her as I can til I score woman whose a notch or so higher until I find that one special woman who satisfies who covers all bases. The future tip for your gut tells you he's a skunk he is. I'm not proud of my style but it is what it is. He moved her in so that's where his heart is. Lose the dude. He'll take whatever you give him but he'll never comitt to you. He's not into you and he's not going to give you a chance in that way since he knows there's fitter women out here. This makes me feel like an ass writing it out. Keep your head up.
